iDashStocks, Dashboard-Reporting Framework Additions

iDashStocks and the generalized dashboard-reporting framework it is built on have already been out for a week with steady growing sales on Apple's iTunes and App Store and we're already working on improving it and adding more features. We want to add the ability to compare more measures, or facts if you're more familiar with dashboard terminology. In future updates, which will be free through iTunes and the App Store for existing iDashStocks users :), you'll be able to switch between measures and perform the same drill-down and kpi monitoring functionality already in iDashStocks but with more data. Review the P/E ratio vs. price, for example. This is our goal, to bring a solid dashboard reporting tool to your iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. We will keep adding functionality and listening to your suggestions so iDashStocks and the generalized dashboard-reporting framework provide you with all the tools that have made dashboard reporting a popular means to solid decision making. Another logical next step is to provide more grouping of categories of stocks, e.g., to answer the question of which industry had the best stock price increase, energy stocks vs. technology stocks (this would be adding more dimensions to the “cube” to increase the amount of slice-and-dice you can perform on your data). Combine this with being able to control how you slice-and-dice data using a feature already in iDashStocks, using the built-in accelerometer to change chart scales, and dashboard reporting just got pretty valuable to your business, all this right from your pocket. Who would have guessed.

iPhone Business App Deployment

We were thinking how to make deployment of custom business apps easier when I came across this article: http://www.pcworld.com/businesscenter/article/193851/iphone_os_40_makes_iphone_a_business_contender.html

Apple is also cutting the cord, enabling IT admins to push custom business apps wirelessly over the air rather than requiring users to sync with iTunes.”

It sounds like it would work like the BlackBerry Server, enabling IT to deploy apps locally, within the organization. This would make deploying updates much easier (obviously), while enabling custom business apps to quickly change with the dynamic nature of businesses. Sounds like a step in the right direction. The iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad already provide great user experiences to the masses. Now, business users will start gaining confidence in these devices for use within their organization. Who will be the early adopters and want user-friendly business apps driving how they view their organization's data?

iDashStocks, Flexible and Powerful

In the current application of iDashStocks, the data and reporting is focused around, well, stocks. However, the app was written with flexibility and customization in mind. It can easily be tailored to meet your organization's needs. We will work with you to customize the app to fit your organization, your branding, and we're always open to suggestions. iDashStocks can be tailored for executive high-level reporting, for an overview of the organization, or it can be modified to monitor metrics focused around operations on a day-to-day basis. Now that you mention it, it can really be used to monitor and track any numerical data, any metric, even home runs. Feel free to get in contact with us at iphoneapptechnician@gmail.com.

iDashStocks makes intuitive use of the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad

iDashStocks takes full advantage of the rich features available in the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad to make working with your data easier and more intuitive. Let's show you.

From the main screen below, you can use the multi-touch capabilities to select multiple stocks to analyze at once.

From the compare screen, you can use the accelerometer, tilting your device left and right, to drill in and out of your data, moving from stock prices by month, to stock prices by day, leading to a fluid and intuitive experience.

April 13th 2010: IDashStocks is released

April 13th 2010: IDashStocks is released.

iDash allows you to track and perform analysis on numerical data. This particular application of iDash tracks stock prices. You have the ability to compare trends of stock prices to each other using clear, easy-to-read charts. Once a trend is discovered, you can drill down to the raw data that make up the trends and set your goal, or key-performance-indicator, to provide a benchmark for monitoring trends in the future. iDash brings the core features of dashboard reporting that you have come to rely on for concise, efficient decision making right to your pocket.

Below are some much anticipated screenshots:

This is the main Dashboard, it allows you to select multiple (stocks in this case) measures and chart them against each other using the compare button in the middle of the screen.
A visible indicator provides a quick one stop shop of up to four different metrics.

This application is specific to stocks, but the possibilities are endless. The tick mark in the main screen indicates the goal that the user has set for the metric. Once the goal is achieved the small check mark indicates that the mark has been hit.

The below screen is the resulting view that results from the comparison.

Clicking the center icon from the main dash board will toggle between the compare method described above and the detail view. Using the detail view and selecting the stock or stocks you want to view details for provides the next set of screens.

The first provides a nice detail graph of the last years performance for the selected metric

Drilling into the graph you would like, yields the below screen providing the detail data

Selecting the action screen pops up an action window

From this screen you can change the goal for the metric you desire to track

The below image is the image for the info button, you can add, change, delete, and change goals for the stocks in the selection tool
